Revenants (2011)

Above is a video showing the first results from a work-in-progress titled Revenants. The piece will exist as a performance instrument as well as a stand-alone object for the gallery context. Featured here is an image-to-sound synthesis circuit. Several photo-sensitive resistors tied to the circuit are mounted inside tubes pointed at locations on a television screen. Current tests involve imagery from a live video camera. The next phase of the project involves further refinement of the image-to-sound circuit as well as the video imagery that will be transmitted to television sets via short-range broadcast. Below is audio of a recent test of new system with TV VHF transmitter, multiple television receivers, and dual image-to-sound circuits with further live signal processing in Pd.
