Iapetus Trace

I have a new sound work, Iapetus Trace on listen at François Ghebaly Gallery in Los Angeles as part of the group exhibition, Deep Space. The exhibition runs July 21 – August 18, 2012, with the opening on Saturday, July 21, 6-9PM. In this work, I utilize photographs of Saturn’s moon Iapetus, taken by the NASA spacecraft Cassini, as the framework for a synthesized composition rendered by custom software that translates image to sound. As part of Dawn Kasper’s This Could Be Something If I Let It, Landed joined Kasper for a performance on May 25 at the Whitney Biennial 2012. I’ve composed a 20-channel sound work for Bo Christian Larsson’s The Emperor’s New Thoughts which will be on view May 18 – June 10, 2012 at Ludlow 38 in New York.

There will be an opening and happening on Thursday, May 17, 6:00 – 9:00pm with the happening at 7:00pm (in which I’ll be wrangling sound; sound also remains in the gallery during the length of the exhibition).

Noisemusick App

I’ve been working on some iOS music/sound/noise apps with the Fluxama collective (Shawn Wallace, Elliot Clapp and myself). I’ve been primarily programming the sonic aspect in Pure Data & libpd, while Elliot’s been handling the graphics and Shawn W. the iOS programming. The first release from this group is Noisemusick (which is based on a circuit board kit by Shawn W., which in turn is based on one by Jessica Rylan).
